&nbsp;&nbsp;The fashion is a kind of symbolic cord representing the spirits of the corresponding age. Recently, recovery of the hippie style has been arising as a new cord of cultural movement representing a trend from late 1990&quot;s to beginning of 21st century. As far as it can be considered in the historical point of view that the change of fashion style has relation with that of culture, a study on the similarity of the style of the expression in fashion between 1960&quot;s and 1990&quot;s and what the hippie style contained has a specific meaning.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The hippieism that insisted on the escape from the materialism was a kind of life pattern and cultural trend of young generation in 1960&quot;s. Therefore, the hippieism had some specific cultural characteristics that might be used as index to differentiate from others. In those characteristics, the terminological expressions such as ecology, psychodelic, nostalgia, and unisex are included.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;A characteristic point in hippie&quot;s hair style was that they were fond of long hair as an image of freedom and resistance. Another one was the introduction of Afro hair style that had a spirit of civilization similar to the black-power movement. And concerning the make-up of hippie, women were used to borrow the unisex trend of men, so it looked like masculine. The make-up in the hippie style was not the expression of femineity but the intension of ecologic or psychodelic regime.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;As a whole, the hippie style that was a sub-culture in 1960&quot;s showed the organic relation among fashion, hair style, and make-up.
