An Investigational Study of the Health and Deformation of Foot among College Students in the Age of Twenties

&nbsp;&nbsp;Foot is the base of a human body and serves to keep the right body shape. Therefore, it is important to have an appropriate foot care to prevent a deformation of foot as well as to treat for an abnormal shape of foot. On the other hand, having inappropriate foot care may cause skin damage and a deformation of foot.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;This study investigated about the deformation of foot, the leg shape and skin trouble related to foot deformation of college students in the age of twenties. The results are as follows:<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;1. The rate of having flat foot was higher among female students than male. Especially, the severity of flat foot was bigger in female.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;2. Students without any deformation of foot showed a lower level of perceptions related to the deformation of foot. Students having a moderate or severe flat foot showed higher perceptions related to it.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;3. Looking at the type of foot problem, the loss of transverse arch increased tendency to have infection on plantar, and it was supported by the result showing that significant positive relationship between having severe deformation of foot and having plantar fascitis(P<0.01).<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;4. Students with severe flat foot showed a higher rate of having coxa valga. Especially, 29.5% of students with severe flat foot were discovered having coxa valga and this indicated that having flat foot may have caused a deformation of body shape.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;5. Students with a loss of arch reported to have frequent eczema and Tinea pedis because the larger part of foot touches ground and become sweatier compared to ordinary people. Also the rate of having callosity and plantar cutis, soft cone was higher than people with normal foot. These troubles may have caused when the skin of foot rubbed against shoes.
