Effects of Paljin-Tang on the kidney of arsenic-poisoned rats

&nbsp;&nbsp;Sodium arsenate and Paljin-Tang extract, a herbal restorative were treated p.o. 20㎎/㎏ and 500㎎/㎏, respectively, and concurrently to rats, and examined the variation of kidney weight, the accumulation of arsenic and effects of metabolic enzymes in kidney of rats. The results obtained in this study were as follows:<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;1. The ratio of kidney weight / body weight of arsenic-treated group increased but the group of concurrent administration with PJT showed significant decrease.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;2. The accumulation of arsenic in kidney of arsenic-treated group increased but the group of concurrent administration with PJT showed significant decrease.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;3. The value of cytochrome P-450 and NADPH-cytochrome c reductase activity showed no variance, but that of protein increased in arsenic-treated group but concurrent administration with PJT showed significant recovery from the toxicity of arenic in kidney.
