This study analyzed the makeup techniques according to the image through makeup in actresses.<BR> We figured out the representative image in soap operas after 1990s through the makeup of actresses, and we came to a conclusion like below after trying the techniques from the result.<BR> First innocent image usually appears in soap operas depicting family life and melodramas, and it is mostly preferred. We can often see that image through those main actresses who deal with the difficulties resolutely and also can see that in case the theme is love.<BR> They usually used brown and apricot color for makeup effects not highlighting any special parts. They drew eyebrows with soft angles, spread the shape of eyes with eyeshadow, and painted natural lips.<BR> Secondly, we can see the pretty image in cheerful characters who never lose their innocence and in daughters of rich family who don"t know much of the world.<BR> They expressed that image with white and pink to be looked as girls and you can see most of the characters have fair and clear skin with thick and straight eyebrows. They express their eyes and lips with pink and brown.<BR> When they want makeup effects, they used pink as main color for eye makeup, highlighted with white, and drew round eye lines. The shape of lips looked smiling with upward drawing.<BR> Thirdly, intellectual image often appears with the increase of working women in modern society.<BR> Actresses were featured clearly to show the insistent and confirmed image in general.<BR> They used achromatic and brown color, and painted skin and eyebrows darker. For eye makeup, they used brown eye-shadow, used same color in lip line and lips, and matched them with the colorof eye makeup. Noise shadow and shadowing helped them look more out-standing.<BR> They used brown as main color with thick skin makeup for makeup effects, made angles in eye and lip makeup, and painted eye-shadow and eyeliner darker.<BR> Fourthly, individual image wasn"t big part of acting at first, so many supporting actresses did that in the past. However, there are some main actresses today who do the individual characters. They are the independent people in life.<BR> That was the point of the makeup which focuses on only one part like eyes or lips to show the challenging and strong image.<BR> They usually used cold color with dark skin and long and thick eyebrows. They mostly painted dark but sometimes they made up only with eyeliner and artificial eyelashes.<BR> They emphasized the shape of eyes, painted blue color around the eyes to make it look colder. On the contrary, the lips had natural color. Ball touch and nose shadow were also painted as dark for strong image.<BR> Fifthly sexy image didn"t appear quite often, but appeared sometimes for special jobs. Characters with sexy image mostly had the similar color and makeup in most times.<BR> Thick and dark skin makeup, dark and long eyebrows, black and brown eye makeup stressing eye hole.<BR> They had red lips with out-curve to be looked more sexy. Nose shadow and ball touch is more outstanding and thicker than any other characters.<BR> For makeup effects, they drew thin and drooped eyebrows, painted black eye-shadow around the edge of eyes for strong eye image with dark eye lines. They had round and large lips with red color.<BR> Actresses in soap operas have various appearances according to the characters they had in soap operas.<BR> But even after the western makeup techniques were introduced in 1990s, they don"t have any special standard in makeup for special characters. So, Actresses are just depending on their makeup artists"s intention.<BR> I considered the difference in color and makeup techniques according to the
