To be courteous and to show respect to other people, Korean had their hair done first before they get their attires. People did their hair do and then went on for clothing and ornaments. Hair-do meant more than physical protection. It also had occult and esthetical meaning expressing human in more comprehensive way.
There are five widely used men hair styles according to tomb paintings of the Kokuryo era; drooped hair, topknot hair, bind hair, braided hair, and bald hair.
Women hair styles can be classified into laid hair, bind hair, and chignon hair.
Women shown in tomb paintings colored their eyebrows black, and rouged their cheeks and lips. Also it is assumed that they might have used perfume, hair oils or starch for hair and some other things to wash their face and hair.
Make ups and hair dos in TV drama “Ju-mong” which is currently being broadcasted shows no accordance to these historical evidence.
It is necessary to examine deeper for better quality of the drama.
