The status of skin and skin-care among middle-aged women

&nbsp;&nbsp;To observe the status of skin and skin-care, the survey was done to 389 middle-aged women(116; case who received the professional skin-care, 273: control) with questionnaire for general characteristics, status of skin &amp; skin-care from February 14 to March 13, 2000. Frequencies or means of general characteristics and, status of skin and self skin-care between case and control were compared.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The results of the study were as follows:<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;1. There was no difference between case and control in the general characteristics except weight and BMI.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;2. The major perceived skin problems were wrinkles(47.0%), chloasma and freckles (32.2%).<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;3. Dry type among skin types (dry, normal, oily) were 49.3% in self decision and 47.4% in professional decision.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;4. Score of self skin care(total score was 14) was 5.9 in all subjects. 7.3 in case was significantly higher than 5.3 in control(p＜0.05).<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;In conclusion, there was significant difference of means of self skin-care score between case and control. It was supposed that the professional skin-care has the educational effect on self skin-care. It was expected that the spread of professional skin-care would the improved self skin-care.
