Growth and Fluctuations of the Korean Economy: A Demand-oriented Explanation

  이글은 유효수요의 원리에 기초한 포스트 케인지언 경제학이 한국 경제의 총생산과 변동을 설명하는 데 있어 유효한가를 계량경제학적 방법을 이용해 분석한다. 공적분과 벡터오차수정모형을 이용한 분석결과는 투자, 정부 지출, 수출 그리고 화폐공급이 한국 경제의 총생산물의 시간경로를 결정하는데 있어 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 보여준다. 또 분석에서 나타난 통화 공급과 다른 실질변수들 사이에 존재하는 양의 공적분 관계는 경제의 실물부문과 화폐부문이 상호의존적(interdependent) 이라는 포스트 케인지언의 견해를 확증한다. 따라서 우리는 신고전학파 주류경제학의 주장과 달리 거시 경제의 조정과 경제발전에 있어서 수요 관리 정책의 유효하다는 정책적 함의를 얻을 수 있다.

  This paper provides a demand-oriented explanation of growth and fluctuation in aggregate output in the Korean economy. To do so, this study utilizes empirical co-integration and vector error correction model using quarterly data. Findings reveal that investment, government spending, exports and the monetary supply play a crucial role in determining the time path of output. Also, we can find the positive cointegrating relationship between the money supply and other real variables, which confirms the Post Keynesian view that the real and monetary sectors of the economy are interdependent.
