Advanced Progressive Matrices의 도형추론지능과 일반지능간의 관계 및 배경 변인 분석

A study on correlation between figural reasoning ability and general intelligence and analysis of related variables

  본 연구는 도형추론지능검사인 APM이 일반지능검사를 대체하여 간편하게 사용할 수 있는 사회경제적인 영향이 최소화된 지능검사인지 경험적으로 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 서울과 인천 및 경기 지역의 초등 4, 5, 6학년을 대상으로 APM과 K-WISC-Ⅲ를 실시하고 학업성취도 자료를 수집하였다. APM의 도형추론지능을 K-WISC-Ⅲ를 통해 산출한 일반지능지수와의 상관 및 학업성취도와의 상관관계를 분석하였으며 APM 수행수준을 성별과 사회경제적 지위에 따라 차이검증을 실시하였다. 연구결과 APM의 도형추론지능은 일반지능과 유의미한 상관관계가 있었으며 APM 수행수준은 성별과 사회경제적 지위에 따라 차이가 없는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 APM 점수는 학업성취도와 유의미한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

  The Advanced Progressive Matrices(APM) is generally accepted as a general intelligence test with a low level of culture-loading. APM was designed to de-emphasize cultural and academic content, sexual difference, and socioeconomic status. The major purposes of this study were to investigate whether figural reasoning ability test of APM can substitute for general intelligence test and whether APM is the culture-free intelligence test. Total score of APM was correlated with K-WISC-III" IQ and school achievement test scores. Also APM scores were analyzed according to the sex, age, and socioeconomic status. A significant positive correlations between APM and Verbal IQ(r=.44, p＜.01), Performance IQ(r=.45, p＜.01), and Full Scale IQ(r=.49, p＜.01) were shown. There were no sexual differences and socioeconomic status differences. And there was significant association between total scores of APM and achievement test scores. All the findings in this study suggest that APM can be used as a measure of general intelligence, and thus can be used for various studies especially for identifying the gifted in the future.
