Changes in politics, economy, social life, and cultural environment today are presumed to constitute information-oriented society and concurrently with this need us to create a new paradigm in the twenty-first century. Arts are no exception. The orientation of modem art is attempting experimental and avant-garde work of arts in varied ways with the emergence of diversified media arising from scientific and technical development, amidst personalistic, multiform and amorphous post-modernism, beyond the modernism that acquired the autonomy of modem art.<BR> In particular, performance art, one of the visual arts, also has represented the body in a political and grotesque way using varied media during the period from conceptual to video art.<BR> As aforementioned, performance using the body may be said to be one of genres of the visual arts that can only exist essentially and reveal itself by performing a certain work using the origin of human existence.<BR> Also, we see that the essence of man is performance, which is considered to make it possible to give self-direction when artists wish to express their own world. Thus, performance using the body can be an aesthetic object and is able to generate a new image.<BR> There were two opinion about face painting such as protecting body and decorating body. face painting is not a primitive concept but a part of the Art.<BR> A picture and a sculpture can be preserved for a long time. But face painting can"t. So face painting has much value of its short durablility.<BR> Therefore because of these aspects the artist for performance love there works and try to do there best to bring there works into relief.<BR> In consequence, this study may be said to be of value in attempting to make clear the meaning, the importance of role, the mutual relation and influence between performance and face painting.
