스포츠 심판의 미적 가치

Aesthetices value of sports umpire

  현대사회는 잘 사는 것에 대한 욕구로 외형만을 중시하는데 인간의 외적인 면과 내적인 면을 고루 아름답게 발전시켜야 진정한 아름다움일 것으로 보인다. ‘스포츠 심판’을 미의 대상으로 보고, 스포츠 심판의 인격적인 면을 내용, 즉 내면으로보고, 스포츠심판의 생명력 발현을 형식, 즉 외형으로 보아 미의 가치를 탐구하고자 하였다. 심판에 비추어 인격적인 내면과 생명력 발현의 외면으로 내, 외를 구분하여 미가 조화롭게 균형을 이루어야만 진정한 ‘미’ 라는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 현대 스포츠의 문제점인 스포츠 심판의 오심과 편파판정의 요인을 ‘의(의리)’와 ‘체력(생명력)’으로 나누어 보았다.

  Looking into aesthetic values of the arbitrator, or umpire becomes the very basis for studying sport aesthetics. Concerning the internality of the umpire, the study focus on his or her righteousness which was based on his morality and personal character. Righteousness is not only the most basic element of human life, but also a moral virtue that is difficult to be kept. Without righteousness, man would lose the proper standard and direction of life. Not losing the virtue would make man live a true human life. With righteousness, the umpire would a better judge of sport. If the umpire adheres to loyalty derived from! righteousness, however, he would be misunderstood judging with prejudice and become a man of dirt. When living a life as a man of righteousness, the umpire would seem graceful and dignified to others. Then the study tried to clarify the vital development of the umpire, that is, external beauty which is characterized as unity, harmony and coordination. If the umpire does not make efforts of developing and refining such external beauty, his or her own internal facet could not play its proper role. With a better personal character and the beauty of vitality, the empire would contribute to the personality development and improved vital life of others, providing standards of value judgement.
