The purpose of this study was to have mentally retarded children use computers to watch multi-animations and have them repeat the material to observe the following effects on expansion of semantic relations.
The study method was to use a total of 6 multi-animations on 3 mentally retarded children, using each animation four times, mediating appropriately to the treatment program organized by level. The first round was set at 40 minutes, and experimentation was performed for a total of 24 rounds for three months. The experiment consisted of stages of pre-test, treatment, and post-test.
The study results were as follows.
Repeated speaking activities after watching multi-animations affected the expansion of semantic relations in mentally retarded children. Children who ordinarily used 2 vocabulary semantic relations, began to use 3 vocabulary semantic relations, 4 vocabulary semantic relations, and complex sentences, bringing about expansion of semantic relations, and this type of increase in usage ratios of multiple word semantic relations sentences showed improvement in sentence quality.
Based on these conclusions, it is evident that repeated speaking activities after watching multi-animations have an effect on expansion of semantic relations in mentally retarded children.
