The objective of this study was to examine the effects of the guidance of fairly tale reading on the reading ability of underachievers. According to the result of the experiment, the underachievers acquired the vocabulary with ease through reading fairy tales. In addition, fairly tale reading brought in various effects such as sentence understanding and expression practice. It was found that underachievers could improve their vocabulary and reading ability through reading fairy tales of different stories and experiencing guidance using various programs. It is believed that fairly tale reading plays a key role in developing underachievers" vocabulary and reading ability, and stimulating their motives for listening, speaking, reading, writing.
