Improvement of Interactivity for the Cyber Home Study of the Elementary School English Program

  The purpose of this study is to help public elementary English education by examining a strategy to improve interactivity for the effective operation of cyber home study. For the purpose, we analyzed the interactivity of the contents of cyber home study through 3 English teachers, and formulated an operation model for improving interactivity and applied the model to 40 sixth graders at an elementary school in Gyeonggi province. To test the effects of the interactivity operation strategy, we analyzed quantitative changes using a questionnaire on affective areas and one on cognitive areas, and also made qualitative analysis of the students’ attitude toward cyber home study and their writings on the impression of cyber home study. The result of this study show that the present cyber home study program is quite effective in helping students in learning elementary school English. However, more structured planning and implementing strategy are necessary in developing and implementing the cyber home study English program. Furthermore, guide on blended learning approach in development of on/offline material in conjunction with what to use, how to use, when to use.
