&nbsp;&nbsp;이 논문은 영국노동당정권하의 사회정책이 소년사법제도에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지 비판적 관점에서 분석 및 평가하고 이를 통해 한국의 소년사법을 위한 발전적 방 안을 제시하기 위함이다.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;이를 위해 먼저, section Ⅱ 에서는 역사적 관점에서 영국소년사법과 청소년범죄의 동향을 살펴보고, section Ⅲ 영국노동당정권이 청소년범죄예방을 위해 사회정책을 만들고 집행하는 과정에서 매스미디어와의 관계 및 미디어들의 보도가 청소년정책에 미친 영향들을 정치적 시각에서 살펴보았다. section Ⅳ 에서는 영국노동당정권에서 시행했던 청소년사법정책을 비판적 관점에서 분석 및 평가하였다.

&nbsp;&nbsp;Scarcely a day passes in the news without reports of a violent crime committed by a young person. The above headlines are an indication of the media response to youth crime in contemporary society, who, have in the last century probably attracted more criticism and media attention than any other group. With youth crime understood to be increasing, criminal and anti social behaviour has become hot topic for New Labour that has gained augmented attention from the government, the media, and academics alike. Since the kidnap and murder of James Bulger by two children in 1993 the media and the government have labelled youths as deviant and wayward and have since implement a number of measures to control young people.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The aim of the paper is to discuss contemporary lifestyles of young people focusing chiefly on time which is not spent in regulated institutions such as the education system, religious bodies and in the home. The media reaction to young people&quot;s modern lifestyles particularly youth&quot;s engagement in crime should be discussed alongside New Labours attempts to combat anti-social behaviour.
