This is a study looking for some service skills from the Four All-Embracing Virtues which can be the uniqueness of buddhist social work as well as complementary of general social work. Many researches proved that the core of effective social work practice is the skill for worker to bring good relationship with the client, skill to show unconditional acceptance and empathy, skill to have profound communication with, skill to control properly worker"s own orientation and perspectives. In relation to those points of view I think the Four All-embracing Virtues can guide the workers better ways to help clients in their fields. Because "Giving" as one of the Four means that Bodhisattva(social workers) helps the sentient(clients) with all kinds of necessaries without any prejudice or discrimination. The "Affectionate talk" among the Four means that social worker communicates lovely and receptively with clients. The "Doing good to others" means that social workers can make real good services for their clients" needs. The "Engaging in other"s matter" means that social workers can join in client"s situation as if it"s their own, have unconditional understanding and respect. With all of these skills social workers can help their clients more effectively as well as thoroughly. One thing remained to move forward is for social workers to try to apply the Four theoretical ideas into their practices on and on, till it is established as a concrete model of service.
