세계경제의 글로벌화 및 중국의 효과로 인하여 극동아시아의 컨테이너 화물 급증과 컨테이너선의 대형화로 선박의 기항지 축소, 컨테이너 선사간의 전략적 제휴, 항만의 글로벌화 등 해운ㆍ항만의 환경변화에 따라 각 지역별 중심항 경쟁과 물동량 유치를 위한 인센티브확대 및 요율인하 등의 경쟁이 치열해지고 있다. 이와 같은 해운ㆍ항만 환경의 급격한 변화로 인해 선사 및 화주들의 항만선택 및 항만경쟁력요인들이 변하고 있다. 변화된 항만선택 및 항만경쟁력 결정요인들의 선행연구를 중심으로 항만시설, 항만비용, 항만입지, 항만물동량, 항만서비스, 항만마케팅 요인 등을 중요 요인들로 분석하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 광양항의 활성화 방안을 항만선택결정요인을 분석하여 광양항이 동북아 물류중심항만으로 발전할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다.
Looking into the changed port selection and the determinants of port competitiveness, we found important factors from the analysis of this study as follows: port facilities, port expenses, location, port throughout, port service, marketing.<BR> Gwangyang port has been in trouble securing container throughput since its inauguration. Measures for Gwangyang Port to remain strong with relatively competitive advantage along with proper amount of freights to be handled are as follows : ① to expand facilities continuously without pause ② to dissipate customers" fear ever expenses of being increased of various incentive systems, insurance for compensation, etc. ③ to strengthen linkage among nodes by constructing port network ④ to open feeders" routes among off-shore ports along China"s north coast activate ⑤ to activate coastal routes by providing sufficient supports ⑥ to build coordinated marketing system for efficient publication<BR> Tanjung P. and Shenzen Port can be said that it is mainly due to the convenience of use on the port of customers including simplified custom procedures. As such is the situation with which Gwangyang Port is now confronted, Port Authority of Gwangyang does not wait for coming customers.<BR> They should set out at once getting them involved in the logistics supply China and try hard attracting shipping liners and shippers. To do this, a way designed to reflect their opinions has come into being. By doing so Gwangyang Port will have a chance to reborn and continue to stat as a strong enough port with sustainable growth of container cargo traffic through a lot more shipping liners and shippers.
