학교개혁을 위한 교사 리더십의 연구

A Study on Teacher Leadership for School Improvement

  본 연구의 목적은 교사 리더십의 이론과 효과를 연구ㆍ소개하여 학교개혁에 공헌할 가능성을 탐색하는 한편, 국내의 교사 리더십 연구를 촉진하는 데 있다. 이런 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해서 본 연구는 문헌연구를 실시했으며, 교사 리더십의 부상과 발전, 개념과 역할, 교사 리더십의 효과, 학교개혁의 공헌 등을 검토하고 그것이 한국의 학교개혁에 주는 시사점을 논의했다. 본 연구를 통해서 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 교사 리더십은 학교 공동체에서 널리 수용되는 개념은 아니었으나 1980년대 미국의 교육개혁에서 교사의 권한강화와 분권화 전략 등이 우세해지면서 새롭게 부상한 이론이다. 교사 리더십의 개념은 매우 다양하지만 행정가나 관리자의 리더십과는 다른 것으로써, 교사의 의사결정의 공유, 권한강화, 팀워크, 커뮤니티 형성 등을 포함한다. 최근에는 교사 리더십의 역할이 지위가 아닌 과정의 역할로 이해되면서, 교사 리더십의 공식적 역할보다 비공식적 역할이 강조되는 추세이다. 교사 리더십의 효과는 교사리더, 동료교사, 학생들에게 매우 강하게 나타나기 때문에, 종국적으로 학교의 역량강화에 공헌하여 학교개혁을 성공적으로 이끄는 효과적인 수단으로 작용한다. 이런 연구결과는 한국의 학교개혁에 교사 리더십을 도입ㆍ실행할 것을 강하게 시사한다.

  The purpose of this study was to contributed the school improvement through the discussion for the foundational theories of teacher leaderships. For that purpose, we reviewed the literature and documents about the concept and roles, the effects and the contribution of teacher leadership. we discussed suggestions of teacher leadership for the school improvement of Korea. The findings of this study were as followings: The concept of teacher leadership is not so acknowledged in the school communities. It"s a new concept that was emerged from the school improvement of America in 1980". The concept of teacher leadership is very diverse but is different form the forms of leadership for administrators or managers. It include the share of decision making, empowerment, teamwork, and the formation of communications for teachers. The roles of the teacher leadership is not acknowledged the concept of teacher" status but that of process. It empathized the informal roles more than formal roles of teacher leaders. The effects of teacher leadership is appeared very strong among the teacher leaders, colleagues and students. As a results, The teacher leadership contributed the building of school competence and works effective means of school improvement. These findings suggest that the teacher leaderships must be introduced in educational policy of Korea as soon as possible.
