Tourism industry has been acknowledged as high value added service industry earning foreign currency, creating employment, and promoting investment through which our quality of life are being enhanced. Despite the expectation of developing the industry, international trade balance regarding tourism industry shows an increasing deficit in the past years recording approximately US 10.1 billions dollars last year. This undesirable phenomena implies that our country is less competitive comparing with other countries in light of attraction of tourism destinations and infrastructures.<BR> At this juncture, it can be meaningful to find out a breakthrough from the Korean peninsula canal development which can be great social overhead capital for the twenty first century. Advanced countries such as Germany, England, France, or The United States have already developed huge scale of inland canals in their early years to lower the physical distribution cost by which local economy has been naturally revitalized together with tourism business including water surface leisure sports.
