DEA 기법과 토빗모형을 활용한 효율성 차이에 대한 분석 - 서울시 고등학교의 교육성과를 대상으로

Analysis on Efficiency Differences Using DEA Approach and Tobit Model: For Educational Performances of High Schools in Seoul

  본 연구에서는 서울지역 195개 고등학교를 대상으로 DEA 기법을 활용하여 상대적 효율성을 측정하고, 이들 차이의 원인을 규명하여 효율성을 제고할 수 있는 방안을 제시한다. 또한, 이분산 토빗모형을 활용하여 상대적 효율성의 차이를 학교설립 형태, 학교소재지, 그리고 외부환경 요소에 따라 정량적으로 분석한다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, DEA 분석을 통해 서울지역에 소재하는 고등학교들 사이에 상대적 효율성의 격차가 존재함을 확인할 수 있다. 둘째, 이분산 토빗모형을 활용한 회귀분석에서는 사립이 공립보다 상대적으로 효율적인 것으로 나타났다. 하지만, 강남과 강북 소재 학교의 지역 간 효율성 차이는 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 또한, 학교 주변 아파트 시세를 대리변수로 활용한 외부환경 요소가 교육성과에도 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

  The purposes of this study is to measure relative efficiency of high schools located in Seoul using the method of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), and to suggest the means to improve efficiency by investigating the reasons for the differences in efficiency. In addition, this study explains the differences in relative efficiency by school type (private or public), location (Gangnam or Gangbuk) and external factor using Tobit model. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, there are signigicant differences in the relative efficiency among the high schools in Seoul. Second, according to the heteroskedastic Tobit analysis results, private schools tum out to be more efficient than public schools. However, there are no statistically significant differences in the aspect of location. The external factor, proxied by the housing prices, also affects the performances of schools.
