The Impact of a FTA on Labor Market

  FTAs bring positive economic effects such as growth in GDP and exports, while structural adjustment can be a source of economic losses in FTAs. Economists have studied impacts of FTAs on macroeconomic variables, without the consideration of structural adjustment costs. This paper is a trial for numerically assessing structural adjustment costs from a FTA with Japan . According to the finding, the economy of Korea can expect economic gains when dynamic effects happen in the long run. However, some sectors such as machinery can undergo substantial costs due to structural adjustment in the FTA with Japan.
