Since 1970s, second language acquisition has been studied starting from language acquisition to syntactic acquisition. However, SLA as well as language acquisition can not be achieved only by learning grammatical, lexical, morphological, and phonological/phonetic knowledge. Therefore, in order to get an effective communication, we need to learn pragmatic competence in interlanguage pragmatics (Kasper 1992). When the pragmatic differences between L1 and L2 are contrasted, there is pragmatic transfer, which is the transfer of pragmatic knowledge in situations of intercultural communication. This paper mentions the limitations of translation approach (Eslami-Rasekh 2005) and conducts time-interval approach. Through this revised method, the existence of pragmatic transfer and the possibility of teaching pragmatic knowledge will be evidenced.
