평생교육사 자격증 취득을 위한 대학생의 평생교육 실습경험 탐색

Exploration of College Students’ Experiences in Practicum for the Lifelong Educator Certificate

이 연구는 평생교육사 양성 교육과정에서 평생교육사로서의 실무능력과 전문성을 제고하는데 핵심적인 평생교육실습에서의 학생들의 경험과 학생 및 실습기관 담당자들의 평생교육실습에 대한 인식을 탐색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 서울시내 소재의 2개 대학교에 소속된 대학생들 중 평생교육실습을 마친 26명의 실습일지와 면접참여에 동의한 11명의 학생과 3명의 실습기관 담당자들과의 면접 자료를 분석하였고, 그 결과는 다음과 같이 요약된다. 첫째, 실습생들은 실습기간 동안 평생교육사의 직무영역 중 운영•지원 직무영역과 조사•분석 직무영역 등의 제한된 직무영역만을 경험하였고, 그러한 경험조차도 직무내용과 관련성이 낮은 단순 보조업무에 국한되었다. 둘째, 실습생들과 실습기관 담당자들의 인식은 (1) 실습 오리엔테이션 및 내용의 비체계성, (2) 광법위하게 정의된 평생교육사 직무영역으로 인한 실습의 방향성 상실 및 시간부족, (3) 실습기관 담당자의 비전문성, 실습생의 비적극적 태도, 그리고 자격증의 낮은 활용성에 의한 체계적 실습의 어려움, (4) 실습기관에 대한 정보부족과 낮은 접근성 등으로 요약될 수 있다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 평생교육실습의 운영 및 평생교육사 제도 개선을 위한 다양한 시사점들이 제안되었다.

This study aimed at exploring college students’ experiences in the practicum for the lifelong educator certificate. In addition, students’ and supervisors’ perceptions of the practicum were explored. In order to achieve this purpose, the authors analyzed the contents of 26 journals that students had written during the practicum and the interview data with 11 students and 3 supervisors who have experienced the practicum. The participants of this study were selected from two large universities in Seoul, Korea, For the first research questions, it was found that students experienced the limited tasks related to management/facilitation of training programs and collection/analysis of various data, However, students did not have experiences directly related to the key activities of the tasks. The findings for the second research question can be summarized as follows; (1) the practicum is not systematical, (2) tasks of the lifelong educator are too broad to be covered by the given time period, (3) there are many obstacles to the meaningful practicum such as supervisors without knowledge and experiences in the field of lifelong education, students’ passive attitudes, and low usefulness of the certificate, (4) students do not have the proprer information on lifelong education institutions and access to them. This study provides a variety of implications for the enhancement of the practicum and further the system of the lifelong educator certificate based on these results.
