지렁이농장 구성활동에서 나타난 유아의 지렁이 생태 이해 과정 탐색

An Evaluation of the Children’s Comprehension Process on the Ecology of Worms Displayed through a Worm Farm Organizing Activities

본 연구의 목적은 유아들이 지렁이농장을 구성해가는 동안 지렁이의 생태에 대하여 어떠한 태도와 개념을 형성하는지 살펴봄으로써 자연친화교육이 갖는 교육적 의미를 탐색해 보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 지렁이농장 구성활동에서 나타난 지렁이에 대한 유아의 태도는 어떠한가? 지렁이농장 구성활동에서 나타난 유아의 지렁이 관련 과학적 개념이해과정은 어떠한가? 라는 연구문제를 설정하고 만 5세 31명의 유아를 대상으로 참여관찰 하였다. 연구 결과, 유아에게 지렁이는 낯설고 두려운 존재였으나 오랜 시간 동안 함께 지내고 돌보는 가운데 애정을 느끼게 되었으며 그들의 생활사 및 습성에 대한 제반 개념을 습득하여 자연과 인간의 유기적인 관계를 이해하게 되었음을 알 수 있다.

This study aims at evaluating the educational significance of nature observation constructive activities by getting a grip on their attitude and the process of understanding toward the ecology of worms through being given the opportunity which children organize a worm farm. For this purpose, the following study questions were asked. What is the children’s attitude toward worms through the construction of worm farm activities? What is the scientific comprehension process of concept relating to worms displayed through the construction of worm farm activities? And to answer these questions, 31 5-year old children were observed. The results of the study showed that children were initially fearful of worms, but through the process of spending time with them and taking care of them, they felt affection toward warms and through the general understanding toward the biology and the habits of worms, they became aware the organic relationship between people and nature through.
