유아교육기관 일과운영에서의 시간통합

Time Integration in the Daily Schedule of Early Childhood Institution

본 연구는 유아교육기관의 일과운영에서 시간통합이 어떻게 나타나는 지 살펴보는 것을 그 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구 참여기관으로 부산지역 공동육아 어린이집인 C 어린이집을 선정하여 2007년 1월 2일부터 2007년 4월 24일까지 총 35회기를 통해 참여관찰, 교사 면담, 그리고 어린이집의 각종 문서를 자료로 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 주제에 따라 분류, 분석하였고 연구결과, C 어린이집의 일과운영에서 시간통합은 먼저 일과흐름의 완만함으로 나타났다. C 어린이집은 교육의 공간임과 더불어 아이들이 삶을 살아가는 삶터로서 먹고, 자고, 노는 것의 흐름이 완만하고 자연스러운 일과운영을 하고 있었다. 또한 C 어린이집의 일과운영에서 시간통합은 교사와 아이가 함께 시간의 흐름을 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 짜여진 시간과 교사 주도의 준비된 활동에 익숙한 교사들이 아이들의 속도를 인정하고, 아이들이 자신의 흥미와 욕구에 맞게 시간을 구성할 수 있도록 교사가 아이들의 흐름에 맞추며 적응해 가는 모습을 보여 주었다. 또한 아이들은 시간과의 적절한 조화를 위해 스스로를 조절하는 능력을 천천히 키워나가며 시간에 대한 올바른 관계를 맺어나가고 있었다.

The purpose of this study was to examine time integration in the daily schedule of early childhood institution. The preceeding research was carried out for this purpose and C care center was chosen as the participant organ in this study. The field study and interviews with teachers were done as well as various kinds of documents in the center were gathered through 35 sessions from Jan 2. 2007 to Apr 24. 2007 All the collected data were classified and analyzed by theme. The findings of the study are as follows: In the selected C daycare center, a slow stream was the primary characteristic of time integration. That center served as not only a space for education but a place for children’s living. The children’s daily routine consisted of eating, sleeping, getting up and playing, which were all done in a slow and natural manner. Another characteristic of time integration in the daycare center was that the teachers and children had the flow of time in control together. Although the teachers already got used to a tight schedule and teacher-led, well-prepared activities, they took the children’s pace into account and controlled themselves to keep step with the children so that they could spend time in a way to suit their interest and needs. And the children gradually learned how to get themselves in control to respond to the flow of time in the right and well-balanced manner.
