본 연구는 한일합방이 이루어진 1910년부터 1943년까지 일제하에서 중간간부 이상의 경찰직에 재직하였던 한국인 930명을 밝히려는데 그 목적이 있다. 구체적으로 대한제국하에서 경찰직으로 재직한 경력이 있는지, 경찰직에 최초로 임용된 연도는 언제인지, 최초 임용직은 무엇인지, 임용후 근무처는 어디인지, 경찰직에 얼마나 재직하였는지, 승진관계는 어떠하였는지, 경찰직을 떠난 후 어떤 관직을 보유하였는지, 광복후의 동향은 어떠하였는지를 확인하고자 하였다. 또한 이에 앞서 일제 경찰제도와 경찰임용제도를 살펴보았다.
This study is analysis about 930 Koreans who hold office in the middle of police executive during 1910 from 1943 under the Japanese imperial rule. In the concrete, this study search out whether these people has the career under the Korean empire, the first time when they worked in the police, the first career, the first office place, duration of remain of office, the promotion, an official position leaving the police, and the state after the independence. In addition, this study analyze the police institution in Japanese imperial rule and the institution of the police employment.
