The paper aims at examining aspects how graves were applied in classical novels. This contents discussed in this paper are as follows. The first type is a grudging grave. It is in charge of literary function that dead character settles one's grudge. And it has been applied since the early works of classical novels. So it is given a great deal of weight on the work. The second type is a miraculous grave. There are grave of ancestor and grave of god in this space. It is in charge of literary function that helps character to escape danger. The third type is a camouflaged grave. There are empty grave and changed grave in this space. It has been applied since latterly work of classical novels. And it is utilized for ridiculing strategy and clever strategy. Likewise, graves in classical novels are essential space with various literary function. Accordingly, the concern about graves should must be enlarged in discussing space of classical novels.
