History And Academic Discipline of America In Logistics

본 논문은 현재 세계적으로 기업과 학계에서 중요성을 인정받고 있는 물류에 대하여 논하였다. 물류는 현재 기업과 학계 모두에게 크게 주목을 받고 있다. 물류는 연구자나 실무자가 새로운 패러다임을 수용하기 힘들 정도로 급속히 발전해 왔고 기업 등 실무분야에서는 크게 환영 받고 있지만, 대학에서는 마케팅, 경제학, 경영학과 같이 다른 학문에 비해 일반적으로 개설되어 있지 않다. 물류에 대한 역사와 배경을 분석 평가하여 이론적 연구를 바탕으로, 미래에 물류가 학계나 기업들에게 있어 실용성과 중요성을 지속적으로 인정받고 학문적으로 가치를 더 할 수 있는 방법을 모색하고자 한다. 먼저, 본 논문은 학구적 분야에 대한 정의와 요소들에 비추어 물류학의 역사, 사상, 이론, 연구방법, 그리고 현재 대학에서 다루는 물류학문의 실제상황이 학문적으로 그 가치를 인정받을 수 있는지를 분석하였다. 물류학은 짧은 역사와 학문적 사상, 다른 여러 학문을 활용한 이론적 발전, 정성적 연구방법의 한계에도 불구하고 학계에서 독립적 학문으로 인정을 받을 수 있는 충분한 가치가 있다는 것과 대학교육에서의 대중성이나 학문적 사상에서는 아직까지 많은 문제가 있다는 것을 연구 결과에 의해 제시하였다. 본 논문은 물류가 학계나 상업계에서 새로운 학문에서 독자적이고 독창성있는 중요한 학문으로 발전하려면 많은 나라 학자들이 물류에 대한 지속적 연구참여와 협동연구를 통해 학문적, 사상적, 이론적, 체계를 성립 발전시키는게 가장 적절한 해결책이라고 제시하였다. 본 논문은 많은 물류학자, 실업관계자, 물류전공 학생들에게 물류학에 대한 전반적 지식을 제공할 것이며 미래 물류에 대한 연구방향에도 유익한 정보를 제공할 것이다.

The importance of logistics in contemporary business, global, and educational environment is no longer a contentious issue. Logistics currently receives greater attention from both the business industry and academia. The field of logistics is exploding so fast, it is difficult for researchers and practitioners to keep up with new paradigms and it is a wide open academic discipline that invites many scholars from different disciplines to enter into. Logistics education in colleges and universities is not popular as other disciplinary fields, such as marketing, economics, business management, etc. While the commercial sector welcomes and recognizes logistics programs and its practicability, the program development in universities regarding logistics is not a simple task because it is still new academic discipline and many faculties and scholars not recognize the importance of logistics education in academia. The purpose of this article is to analyze and evaluate logistics based on both definition and elements of an academic discipline to validate logistics discipline in academia. Based on the content analysis of logistics history, thoughts, theory development, and it fits and includes both definition and elements of an academic discipline. However, significant challenges and obstacles exist for logistics discipline to become a sound academic discipline.
