This study analysed the popularity in Death of Leechadon written by Gang-su Lee. So far, the Novel has been criticised because of the inappropriate background-era, subject matter, stereotype, simple and repetitive plot, negative national and historical view. Nevertheless, the Novel was a best selling book in colonial tims. This study is examining the popularity of the historical Novel written by LeeGangSu by way of analysing narrative structure and affection in the Novel. The Novel's form is that of a hero's biograph. A biograph of a hero is familiar plot to the reading public. The Novel came to an end of Leechadon's death. Hero's death produced popular sublime. And, the hero sacrificed himself for the loyalty. This pattern is sentimental structure form. By way of appeal to popular emotion, it gain compassion and identification. The affection troubles were often brought out in the Novel. The eternal triangle among Leechadon, Dal-leem, Princess-pyeongyang was major motif in the Novel. A distinctive feature of love triangle was emphasis of overabundant sentiment. Not did progress of concrete love-affairs or actions come out but state of sentiment was only brought into relief. Therefore, readers could easily understand characters under the situation and sympathize with them. Finally, sentimental aspects appeared in binary pattern such as narrative structure and affections in the Novel. It was reinforcements of sentiment that was a basic principal of the popularity in the historical novel written by Gang-su Lee.
