Some Issues on the Development of Pusan Port-New Port

This paper is designed to analyze some problems and to present solutions in relation to the development of Pusan Port-New Port. Since the opening of Pusan Port-New Port in 2006, Pusan Port-New Port have been confronted by some problems, especially the lack of container cargo volume, the delay of inland transport network construction and development of hinterland for logistics. I would like to present some solution to solve the above-mentioned problems and to activate Pusan Port-New Port like these. First, ODCYs, scattered in Pusan city, have to be closed as soon as possible to solve the problem on the lack of container cargo volume and to improve the efficiency of nation-wide logistics system. Secondly, Infrastructure of Pusan Port-New Port, that is to say, Inland transport network and hinterland for logistics etc., have to be constructed as soon as we can, to improve the activation of Pusan Port-New Port in national logistics system. Thirdly, Value-added and cargo-creative hinterland for logistics, have to be created. Finally, the industry cluster have to be organized to raise the effect of synergy within the port logistics industry ultimately.
