Parricide and Family Dynamics

부모를 살해하는 패륜행위는 여러 가지 독특한 특징들을 지니고 있다. 이전에 범죄를 한 경력이 없거나 부모를 살해하고서도 죄책감을 많이 느끼지 않는다. 패륜 행위를 개인 차원에서 잘못된 일로만 치부를 한다면 패륜 행위를 이해하는 중요한 요인들을 간과하게 된다. 패륜 행위를 가족구조 차원에서 이해를 하고 연구를 하였다. 부모 살해의 행동과 관련이 있는 네 가지 가족구조 요인들이 연구되었다. 그 요인들은 병리적 의존관계, 가족 폭력, 가족 투사와 희생양, 미분화 현상이다. 이러한 요인들은 부모를 살해하는 행동에 강력한 방식으로 관계를 가지고 있다. 이러한 요인들이 독립적으로 부모 살해의 행동에 영향을 미치지만 더 중요한 것은 네 가지 요인들이 하나의 체제를 이루고 있다는 점이다. 네 가지 요인들은 체계적으로 관련을 맺으면서 가족 구성원들의 행동을 통제하고 지배하는 역할을 한다. 부모를 살해하는 행동을 한 가족 구성원은 이러한 체제 속에서 많은 세월을 살아왔다. 이제는 더 이상 이러한 체제 속에서 살 수 없는 느낌이 든다. 이러한 느낌 중에 하나가 함정에 빠진 감정이고 절망감이다. 부모 살해의 행동은 이러한 감정과 느낌이 강력하게 들 때 일어나는 현상이다. 부모 살해는 공격 행동이라는 차원에서 이해를 하기보다는 방어 행동이라는 차원에서 이해를 해야하는 현상이다.

The behavior of parricide has many unique characteristics. The kids to kill parent do not have any criminal record before the homicide happened and do not show severe guilty feelings after killing their parents. The phenomena of parricide should not be understood from the perspective of individual behaviors and internal dynamics. If do so, many important factors will be disregarded. The purpose of this study is to show several important factors of family structure to contribute to the behavior of parricide. The four factors are codependent relationship, family violence, family projection & scapegoat, and undifferentiation. These factors influence to the parricide behavior not only independently but also systematically. A family system of the four factors control family members in a certain way. The parricide kids cannot control their behaviors according to their will becuase of the pathological system. They have the feeling to be trapped and of hopelessness. The only wayout to get out of those desperate feelings and emotions is to break the pathological system of family structure which means to kill parents. Therefore, the phenomena of parricide should be understood not from the perspective of aggression but from the perspective of defence.
