고래 과제에서 과학고등학교 학생들이 고안한 가설 검증 방법의 분석을 통한 실험 설계 능력 지수 산출식의 개발

The purpose of this study was to develop an equation, which could quantitatively evaluate individual`s experimental design ability. To the attainment of our goal, 9 science high school students were participated in this study. Experimental design task about whale was generating hypothesis on the following question: `Whales spend much of their lives in freezing cold Arctic and Antarctic waters. How do they stay warm in such cold water?` and designing experiments for testing their hypothesis. The experimental designs that generated by them was analyzed by 4 major factors(type, richness, diversity and elaborateness) which was extracted from important component of the classified types. Then, general equation which could quantitatively and objectively evaluate individual`s experimental design ability was invented by an inductive method. After considering all the factors, we reached following equations. ‘DQ = Σ{DEn × Σ(TEn × EEn)}’. According to this results, whale task and experimental design ability quotient(DQ) equation which invented in this study may be applied a practical use of measuring students` ability of scientific experimental design.
