The purpose of this study was to investigate brain activation patterns of science teacher`s hypothesis generation about biological phenomena. Eight right-handed healthy in-service science teachers volunteered to be in the present study. To investigate participants` brain activities during the tasks, 3.0fMRI system with the block experimental-design was used to measure BOLD signals of their brain and SPM2 software package was applied to analyze the acquired initial image data from the fMRI system. According to the analyzed data, fusiform gyrus, FEF region, bilateral hippocampus, SMA(or premotor) region and cerebellum were significantly activated during participants` carrying-out hypothesis generation. These results suggested the notion that hypothesis generation is involved in analyzing the questioning situation (given phenomenon), using verbal strategy and retrieving not only participant`s some semantic memory but also their own episodic memory. Furthermore, the present study discussed some initial ideas to design the brain science of learning in science.
