It is very important factor to analyze exactly the effect of obstacles in radio communication. Especially, the problem appear to be difficulty for system designers. In this paper, theoretical analysis was derived from the theory of diffraction and reflection of have in order to offer solution when propagation disturbance is happened behind obstacles on the propagation path. The simulation was conducted applying various environment parameters. The theoretical analysis used in estimating the lateral effect of obstacles agree reasonably with public ray theory and measured results. The result seems to be useful for predicting the level of received power, analyzing fading phenomena and optimizing service area of microcellular system.
