학습자 자기평가 활동에 관한 사례연구

A Qualitative Case Study on Learner Self-Evaluation

최근 미국을 비롯한 여러 나라에서 학습자 자기평가가 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 아쉬운 것은, 그와 관련된 연구와 실천의 대부분이 대학에서, 그것도 교수자의 철저한 지도와 관리 하에 시도되고 있는 것들이어서, 중등학교 수준의 교육 장면에서 교수자의 개입 없이도 수행될 수 있는가 하는 문제에 대한 단서를 찾기 어렵다. 연구자는 학습자 자기평가가 대학 뿐 아니라 중등수준의 교육에서도 구현될 필요가 있다는 판단 하에, 그 가능성과 특징을 추출하는 질적 사례연구를 수행하였다. 평생교육적 관점에 터하여 4명의 기술계 고등학교 학생들과 초․중졸의 학력을 가진 30-40대 성인 6명을 연구 참여자로 선정하여 글쓰기를 통한 자기평가를 수행토록 함으로써, 내러티브 글쓰기를 통한 학습자 자기평가의 수행토록 함으로써, 내러티브 글쓰기를 통한 학습자 자기 평가의 수행양태를 확인하고 그에 영향을 미치는 요소를 구명함으로써 촉진방안을 마련하는 작업을 수행하였다. 연구 결과, 일부 학습자들이 상당한 수준의 자기평가를 수행할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었으며, 자기평가의 수행 양태와 국면, 그리고 그것에 영향을 미치는 요소들을 추출할 수 있었다. 학습자 스스로 자신의 학습활등을 관리해야 하는 ‘평생학습 시대’에 어떻게 자기평가를 촉진할 수 있는가 하는 방안들도 지적하였다.

Recently, several countries have paid their attention to learner/student self-evaluation. The learner self-evaluation became the one of the new alternative evaluation methods which asked the learners to do the evaluation for their own learning activities. Many researchers have tried to apply this new evaluation method to the college students and they could have reported the successful results of learner self-evaluation. Learner self-evaluation makes the learners act as persons holding a responsible position in their learning activities. In this point, learner self-evaluation is not only a kind of new evaluation metho, but also a sort of the new learning strategies, especially for making learners be a active learners or self-directed learners. for this reason, I placed my expectation for making leaners be more active on their learning. But actually I couldn't be make sure that whether the learners especially on the secondary education could do the self-evaluation to a successful issue. I though doing the self-evaluation could give some good effects for their learning to all the people, so I believed every learner had to be able to do the self-evaluation. To ascertain its possibility and characteristics, ten learners who are on the secondary education, 4 high school students and 6 adult learners were chosen as the subjects of the investigation, and they were asked to do the self-evaluation through the narrative writings. Consequently, I could find that the learners on secondary education were able to do their self-evaluation successfully, although every learner could not. I could also capture the characteristics and limitations of their self-evaluation and extract some suggestions for it. Through this research, it was confirmed that learner self-evaluation could get to bring self-directed learning and lifelong education would have to deliberate on it.
