IB(International Baccalaureate)와 호주 VCE(Victorian Certificate of Education)가 우리나라 대학입시성적 산출방식에 주는 시사점 탐색

Study on the International Baccalaureate and Victorian Certificate of Education for the Improvement of Korean University Entrance Examination

본 논문은 우리나라 대학입시성적 산출방식의 개선을 위한 시사점을 도출하기 위하여 IB와 호주의 VCE 평가방식을 자세히 살펴보는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 이 두 가지 국외사례는 대학입학에서 전형자료로 활용되는 점수를 학교평가점수와 외부시험점수가 합산된 단일점수로 산출하는 사례이다. 이와 같이 학교평가점수와 외부시험점수를 합산하여 단일점수로 산출하는 경우 제기될 수 있는 문제는 학교평가의 신뢰성 확보문제와 학교 간 학력 차이 문제이다. IB는 이 두 문제를 표준화된 교육과정을 마련하고 교과별 평가준거와 성취기준을 철저히 명료화해놓으며, 위계적인 몇 단계에 걸친 조정과정을 통하여 해결한다. VCE 교과 교육과정에는 IB 교과 교육과정에 비하여 내용기준, 평가준거와 성취기준이 대강적으로 제시되어 있지만, 학교에서 이루어지는 평가의 신뢰성과 객관성을 보장하기 위한 지침을 별도의 공식문서로 마련해놓고 있으며, 학교평가 점수와 외부시험 점수의 합산 과정에서 통계적 조정과정을 활용하여 학교 간 학력 차이 문제를 해소하고 있다. 마지막으로 이러한 IB와 VCE에 대한 연구결과가 우리나라 대학입시제도 개선에 주는 시사점을 몇 가지 정리하여 제시하였다.

This paper aims to study on IB and VCE to derive implications for the improvement of Korean university entrance examination. Both IB and VCE are examples to calculate one mark by adding up the results of school course-work and external exam. In these cases, the two problems of reliability of school assessment and difference of scholastic ability among the schools are posed. For the settlement of these problems, IB prepares standardized curriculum and clarifies subject-specific achievement and assessment criteria very concretely in it and use moderation as the principal tool for ensuring marking reliability. VCE indicates strategies for avoiding authentication problems and securing reliability of school assessment in an official document, and uses statistical moderation to ensure that schools' assessment are comparable, and thus fair for all students, whichever school they attend.
