히로시마의 과제

The Task of Hiroshima : From Peace Movement to Peace Building

히로시마의 평화운동은 과거 원자폭탄의 희생자들에 대해서 주로 초점을 두어왔다. 그러나 히로시마는 이제 아시아와 다른 지역에서 나타나고 있는 후기갈등사회의 회복과 재구축을 포함하는 현대 평화문제의 극복문제에 도전해 있다. 또한 히로시마는 평화운동을 통해서 일본과 다른 국가들 간의 역사적 관계를 이해하지 않고서는 결코 이웃국가들에 접근하기 어렵다는 점을 분명하게 인식해야 한다. 지난 과거 평화운동의 전개과정을 고려해 보면서 히로시마는 이제 국제사회에서 새로운 노력을 할 필요가 있다.

The Peace Movement of Hiroshima has been mostly focused on the issue of the Atomic Bombing and its effect on the victims. However, Hiroshima is now facing with a new challenge of how to cope with contemporary peace issues including the reconstruction and rehabilitation of post-conflict societies in Asia and other areas. Also, it has been keenly recognized that voices from Hiroshima would never reach its neighbors without understanding the historical background of the relationship between Japan and the other nations. While taking into account of the development of its past peace movement, Hiroshima should start new efforts of peace building in the international society.
