A Study on the law for Women’s Rights and Elimination of Discrimination(Ⅱ):Focusing on the family

This study aims to make recommendations on family policy by considering the changes of the family types. As family units take a variety of forms, it is necessary to consider how to expand the concept of family and accept various family forms. In so doing, the study is completed focused on three family types such as sexual unions outside the marriage, single parent family and transnational family. These families have rapidly increased in Korean society since the 1990s alongside individualization, neoliberalism and globalization. In addition, such social shifts make women more vulnerable to the precarious job market and lead Women to more family responsibilities by the privatization of social security systems. It is important to examine recent changes in family relationships based on three family types with a feminist perspective as family diversity is not only a reflection of social changes but also one of the feminist debates.
