Neurologic complications occur frequently in the hemolytic-uremic syndrome and commonly consist of seizure, alteration of consciousness, coma and hemiparesis. We experienced a case of hemolytic-uremic syndrome in a 2-year-old boy of in whom right hemiparesis, seizure and facial palsy developed and brain CT, MRI and EEG were checked. A head computerized tomography performed 3rd day after onset of seizure revealed swelling of both basal ganglia and brain MRI performed 5th day after onset of seizure revealed swelling of both basal ganglia on T1 image and high signal intensity of internal and external capsule an claustrum on T2 weighted image. Brain MRI performed 32th day after onset of seizure showed disappearance of swelling and edema oa basal ganglia and diffuse brain atrophy on T1 image and residual focal high signal intensity with hemosiderin deposit of left basal ganglia on T2 weighted image. Later He was discharged with complete resolution of facial palsy and partial resolution of his right hemiparesis. We report the case with brief review of related literatures.
