The relations between clinical illness and auditory response (as revealed by auditory brainstem potentials) were prospectively studied in neurologic disease children. Brainstem auditory evoked response (BAER) were performed on 82 patients at Soonchunhyang University Hospital from March 1991 to December 1993. The abnormal brainstem auditory evoked response were forty cases, which consists of cerebral palsy (75% in 8 cases), developmental retardation (62% in 13 cases), hyperbilirubinemia ( 60% in 5 cases) and mental retardation (50% in 10 cases). The abnormal brainstem auditory evoked response were brainstem (28 cases). peripheral (6 cases) and central lesions (2 cases).
