A text operation method and discourse characteristics of ‘Changbutaryeong’ in Busan and Gyeongnam Area. Dongnam Journal of Korean Language & Literature 26. The purpose of this paper is to examine an aspect of how Changbutaryeong, Gyeonggi popular song, becomes localized by analyzing a test operation aspect and discourse characteristics of 'Changbutaryeong‘ of Busan and Gyeongnam Area. The text operation method of Busan and Gyeong Area can be largely divided into Basic Type, Borrowing Type and Creation Type. Basic Type is operated on the basis of the text that obtained the highest popularity among the texts of Gyeonggi vulgar songs. Borrowing Type is operated by borrowing the text of other vulgar song such as Noraetgarak(a kind of folk song) or Cheongchunga or by borrowing the text of existing traditional vulgar songs. Expecially, in case the text of existing traditional vulgar songs is borrowed, the text is to be escape from the fixed local nature named Gyeonggi vulgar song or Gyeonggi folk song. Creation Type is a method in which it is operated by creating new texts to the tune of Changbutaryeong. This method has significance in that the singer can directly represent his/her life and emotion and in that the extending power of Changbutaryeong as a folk song is more reinforced. In the meanwhile, the discourse characteristics contained in the text of Changbutaryeong of Busan and Gyeongnam Area is largely divided into relation-oriented, family-centered love and the present-centered, and site amusements. In original, the text of Changbutaryeong universally contains discourses such as love and departing, life transience, amusements, etc. The discourse characteristics retained by the text of Changbutaryeong of Busan and Gyeongnam Area, in a broad sense, belong to this scope. As a result of love and departing indicated in the text, however, Changbutaryeong of Busan and Gyeongnam Area is focused to love which stressed relation, and especially the relation is focused to the love of a family. Also, Changbutaryeong of Busan and Gyeongnam Area had discourse characteristics representing site amusements by singing the desire of present life. This fact is significant in that Changbutaryeong shows it is being newly created into a contemporary song suitable to the relevant site.
