A Study on Ways to Develop Advanced Korean Textbooks for Improving Language Skills and Strategies. Dongnam Journal of Korean Language & Literature 26. The aim of this study is to present ways to develop advanced Korean textbooks for building up four language skills. For this purpose, above all, I examined the current advanced Korean language textbooks, focusing on the language skills, the language strategies and the unit organization of textbooks. Considering the results, I gave demonstrations of the improved design of advanced textbooks. First, advanced Korean textbooks should include various language skills and strategies for cultivating Korean proficiency. Second, four language activities should be integrated into the same language skills and the scheme of learning items. Third, effective language activities should be designed as the whole process of learning Korean language, not focusing on learning results. Last, unit organization of textbooks should be based on Korean teaching and learning process in the Korean language classroom. I hope that these can help to develop advanced Korean textbooks for improving Korean proficiency.(Inje University)
