박경리 『토지』에 나타난 여성하위주체의 저항

A Study on the Resistances of Female Subaltern Subject in The Land by Park Kyung-ni

박경리의 󰡔토지󰡕는 일제가 교묘한 공포조작을 통해 침략과 통제를 자행함을 보이고 있다. 일제는 직접 조선인의 원망대상이 되지 않도록 일제앞잡이나 밀정을 통해 조선의 내부분열을 유도하였다. 이 글은 피식민지 조선에 작용한 권력과 감시의 통제 아래에서 조선여성들이 어떤 삶을 살아갔는가를 살폈다. 특히 석이네와 같은 하위주체 여성의 삶이 결코 비극으로만 끝나지 않는다는 것에 중점을 두었다. 이는 자신의 이름조차 호명 받지 못한 조선여인이지만 어렵고 험난한 시대를 그럼에도 불구하고 살아가고 있기 때문이다. 이처럼 조선여성의 삶은 권력에 대한 순응과 저항이 교차하면서 이어지고 있다. 여성은 어떤 파놉티콘의 감시 아래서도 정형화 유형화되지 않으며 다채롭고 차이나고 지연되는, 결코 틀 속에 통제할 수 없는 ‘사람’임을 알게 될 것이다.

The Land by Park Kyung-ni describes how the Japanese rulers invaded Korea and controlled it through cunning fear manipulation. The Japanese rulers also tried to make Chosun crack and divide inside through their puppets and secret agents so that they would not be the direct target of blame. This study investigated what kind of life Chosun women led under the power, supervision, and control forced upon colonized Chosun. It's noteworthy that the lives of female subaltern subjects such as Seogine didn't all end up in tragedy. It's because they decided to live on in the difficult, harsh era even though they were Chosun women whose names were hardly called by anyone. The lives of Chosun women were interlaced with conformity to and resistance against authority. It's thus become apparent that women, under any kind of supervision of panopticon, don't be formalized or typified and are “humans” that can never be controlled within a frame being multifaceted, differentiated, and delayed.
