This study was carried out to investigating the characteristics of chemical components by analyzing total nitrogen, total amio acid, chlorophyll, tannin, caffeine and catechin for 150 germplasms of domestic and foreign tea tree, and the genetic relationships by the cluster analysis for the components. The content of total nitrogen ranged from 3.13 to 6.31%. And the content of total amio acid ranged from 299 to 3,120mg/100g, specially was highest with 3,120mg/100g at Bosung 10, and then secondly 3,020mg/100g at Bosung 2, and subsequently 2,900mg/100g at BS72. The content of chlorophyll ranged from 247 to 757mg/100g. The tannin content showed the tendency of large variation among the germplasms as 11.28% in the highest content and 4.68% in the lowest content, The caffeine content ranged from 0.55 to 3.7%, and specially the lines containing low caffeine as BS115(0.55%) and BS45(0.88%) were expected to being used as intermediate parent line. The catechin content ranged from 4.1 to 16.1% and was 9.5% on the average, and BS63, BS65, BS66 among the germplasms were expected to being used as high catechin line. In result of the cluster analysis by the chemical components, the germplasms were classified to three groups. The 71 domestic collection lines among germplasms belonged with the first group. And another domestic collection lines and new varietys of korea, Japan China variety and the other domestic collection lines, belonged with the third group as that the content of analysis items were in low level.
