조선 후기 걸명(乞茗) 시문을 통해 본 한국 차인의 멋

The charm of ‘people of tea’ in Geol‐Myoung poetry and prose in the latter term of Chosun dynasty.

Geol Myoung poetry and prose(writings of asking tea) is a kind of writings pleasing the dispatch of tea. This is one of distinguished cultural aspects in the history of tea in the latter period of Chosun dynasty. Main receivers of Geol Myoung poetry and prose were Buddhist priests, for they were main producers of tea in the unique situation of that time. In this study mainly cited writings come from those of Da-San, Ch’u-Sa, Hwang-Sang and Myoung Hee, Kim. Main receivers of those letters were Buddhist priests. The tendency of Geol-Myoung poetry and prose beginning from Da-San became more popular and matured in the time of Ch’u-Sa. These writings reveal the main streams of the history of tea, being more and more popular at that time. So we can see the intellectual’s understanding level of tea. When we read the letters of Ch’u-Sa, in which he tried to take a little more tea, we can see the strong affection for it. The culture of tea is a kind of spiritual culture. The Geol-Myoung poetry and prose contains a lenient mind of people of the old times and their pleasantly taste and elegance. It is today’s our duty to develop the good culture of drinking tea, reminding and adjusting the spirit of that time in the writings.
