아동 미술표현의 상징성과 의미에 대한 소고

A Study on the Symbolism and Meaning of Children's Artistic Expression

상징적 의미는 다른 사람에게 전달하고자 하는 사물, 지시, 명령, 자극, 신호, 물리적인 힘, 등에 포함된 은유적 의미를 포함한다. 그러므로 그림표상 역시 드러나는 이미지에 포함된 의미가 늘 절대적 개념으로 설명되기 어렵다. 의미는 표상에 잠재되고 은유되어, 암시성을 지니기 때문이다. 미술표현을 의미적 산출물로 보면서 표현의 상징성에 대한 이해와 해석은 중요하다. 이에 미술교육에서도 아동화의 이미지 보다는 미술을 표현하는 과정에 보다 관심을 가지고자 한다. 아동의 미술표현과정은 미적인 형태로 반응하는 것이라는 점에서 미술교육에 중요한 의미로 시사되고 있으며, 과정에서 지속적으로 일어나는 미적인 지각은 아동의 표현의도와 의미를 지향하기 위한 작용으로 볼 수 있다. 그러므로 아동미술표현의 의미와 상징을 이해하는 것은 아동의 표현의도를 위한 인지적 과정을 이해하는 것에 기초적 기반을 제공해 줄 수 있을 것으로 본다. 또한 아동미술표현의 상징성과 의미적 관계를 소고하는 것은 아동의 미술표현을 보다 구체적으로 이해 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 미술 표현에 대한 상징과 의미적 관계를 살펴보고, 아동의 미술표현의 특성을 고려하여 미술표현의 상징성과 의미적 관계를 이해하고자 하였다.

Individual representation related to contemporary complexity holds symbolic meaning as a sign. It is not always true that the symbolic meaning is defined and conveyed as the meaning contained within the conveyor that is needed for individually different mutual correlations. Namely, the symbolic meaning includes the metaphorical meaning contained in objects, instructions, orders, stimuli, signals and physical forces. The form of various representations shown as individual artistic expressions, languages, words and gestures has an objective meaning, while transcendence has subjective symbolism. Neither images shown in figures nor the meaning of the images can be always explained as an absolute concept. The meaning is metaphorically hidden in individual representations and so shows an intimation. The meaning an expressing person attempts to show symbolizes an implied message. Art has to be interpreted with respect to its symbolism rather than visual images, being regarded as a meaning-related product. Art education has recently put an emphasis on the process of artistic expression, rather than the images of children's paintings, and the process has been considered to be important in children's art education because of their reaction to artistic patterns. In addition, aesthetic perception and appreciation play an important role in leading children's intention and meaning of expression. Understanding the meaning and symbolism of children's artistic expression, therefore, can provide the fundamental background to understand the process of perception needed for children's intention of expression. When it is taken into consideration that children's artistic expression is also shown in the form of individual artistic representation, gaining an understanding of relations between meaning and symbolism is very meaningful for deeply understanding their artistic expression. Finally this study was performed to examine relations between the meaning and symbol of children's artistic expression, focusing on the characteristics of their artistic expression.
