Im Sang-deok interpreted and commented on『Shi-Gyung』. His comment was mainly about 「Kook-pung」(國風; folk ballads, the first chapter in 『Shi-Gyung』), so it is not a large quantity. But his interpretation on scriptures was new, so it had occupied an important position in the history of study in 『Shi-Gyung』, in Cho-sun dynasty, This paper aims to investigate his comment on 「Kook-pung」. Firstly, I looked into that how he thought about two countries, Ju-nam(周南) and So-nam(召南). He basically followed Jeong Hyun(鄭玄) and Ju-ja(朱子) in concepting those countries. But on the other hand, he established his own way principle in setting a standard and subdividing between Ju-nam and So-nam. And he criticized the view that poetry should be educative. Secondly, I looked into his comment on three expressions, Bu(賦; an expression to describing realistically), Bi(比; an expression to use a metaphor) and Heung(興; an expression to a poetical idea through objects). He followed Ju-ja in commenting on those expressions, but he supported his comment concretely and logically, showing some grounds. Thirdly, I looked into the characteristics and significance of his reinterpretation. He reinterpreted 『Shi-Gyung』, focusing the side of function. This shows that he retraced the social utility of poetry. And he connected works in 『Shi-Gyung』 with historic occasions and people. This shows that he had a concern in history a lot.
