CLT and TETE in Korea: Practical Suggestions for Realistic Practices in the EFL Classroom

This paper explores the issues involved in implementing CLT and TETE in Korean secondary level schools and aims to contribute to the national efforts for establishing TETE classes. Careful examination of the challenges faced is made and practical suggestions that can assist realistic practices of TETE in the actual classroom are presented. Suggestions for a sensible understanding of the CLT and TETE principles for more reasonable practices of L2 and/or L1 use during instruction, teacher training programs better tailored to teachers' TETE needs, management of learner variables, and urgent support at the school and national levels are proposed.
