인천시 부평구 가로시설물의 지역적 특성, 이용자 니즈를 고려한 디자인개발

인천시의 구도심에 위치한 부평로는 지하철 환승역, 대규모 지하상권 등으로 인해 유동인구가 많은 부평구의 대표적인 도로이다. 그러나 인천 송도지구와 같은 신도심에 비해 가로환경이 낙후되어있는데다 2014년 아시안게임 등 국제행사를 앞두고 있어 개선이 시급히 요청되고 있다. 부평로의 공공환경은 무질서하고 세련되지 못한 느낌을 주는데다 지역의 정체성이 결여되어있다. 또한 그곳을 이용하는 다양한 사람들의 니즈가 제대로 반영되어 있지 않다. 따라서 본 연구는 부평로의 가로시설물을 지역의 정체성, 이용자의 니즈 등을 고려하여 디자인 개발하기 위한 목적으로 진행되었다. 부평구의 지역적 특성을 파악하기위해 부평구 및 부평로의 현황과 부평구의 정체성 표현요소를 조사 분석하였다. 그 과정을 통해 과거부터 전승되어오는 부평 풍물놀이의 유·무형적 요소를 가로시설물 디자인에 적용될 수 있는 지역정체성 요소로 선정하였다. 이어서 부평로에 설치되어있는 6종의 가로시설물(파고라, 벤치, 휴지통, 자전거보관대, 가로등, 가드레일)에 대한 현장실태조사와 부평로 이용객을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사결과를 종합하여 정체성/심미성, 사용성/기능성, 경제성/관리성 측면에서 디자인 방향을 설정하였고 이를 토대로 디자인을 전개하였다. 제시된 디자인 안은 디자인품평회를 통해 지역주민, 전문가 등으로부터 평가되었으며 이 과정에서 제기된 의견을 수렴하여 최종디자인을 제시하였다.

Bupyong Street located in the old section of Incheon is a representative street where many people come to use the subway station and major underground commercial areas. However, the improvement of its street environment is urgently required because its environment falls behind those of new towns such as Songdo District and major international events including the 2014 Asian Game are just ahead. The public environment of Bupyong Street does not give a sophisticated image to people and does not express a regional identity. In addition, it does not reflect the needs of the diverse people visiting the street. Thus this study has been conducted to come up with designs that reflect the regional identity and user needs. To identify the characteristics of Bupyong-gu, we gathered and analyzed identity elements of the district as well as its present conditions. Through the process, we chose both tangible and intangible elements of Pungmul nori as identity elements to apply to the street furniture design. Then we conducted a field study on six items (pergolas, benches, trash bins, bicycle stands, street lights and guard-rails) and a survey of the diverse people who use Bupyong Street. Based on the design directions, we created design ideas by reflecting upon the commonalities in the evaluations from people including local residents and experts.
