In order to reason with Tea-Tao of Rev. Cho-Eui(1786-1866), from his tea making to kinds of tea, tea utensils, selection of water, drawing tea, taking tea, flower for tea, tea knowledge, a book on tea and a philosophy of tea, public opinion were deeply studied. Sometimes he made solid leaf tea and cake tea and gave a present to his friends. There were Noeso tea, Kyoung Noeso tea, Chaochou tea, Yang Shan tea, lump tea, Borim Backmo tea which he took. And he made a selection basis for water which is to draw tea, and <Eight kinds of virtue> shown in "A book of travel for westward" written by Monk Hsuan Chuang of Tang was that selection. Tea untensils which he used were not found, but furnace, brazier, bamboo cover on brazier, a bronze brazier, tea bowl, etc., are seen at a collection of Rev. Cho-Eui. We guess that cake tea for boiling, lump tea for whipping, leaf tea for steeping were applied correspondingly in his drawing tea. We can analogy circumstances of tea taking in the poetry on tea and we can find a state of mind in the 31st panegyric of "The panegyric of Korean tea." (「東茶頌」) He wrote “The panegyric of Korean tea” as his writings and “Hand book of tea spirits”(「茶神傳」 ) has been handed as a compilation. Garden flower is mainly used to his flowers for tea and his philosophy was “Tea and Dhyana Are of the Same Taste”(茶神一如). Rev. Cho-Eui is called as a saint on tea in the society and an affirmative opinion that "The panegyric of Korean tea" is the Ch`a Ching of Korea and a negative opinion that "The panegyric of Korean tea" is not Ch`a Ching of Korea have been coexisted. It is necessary for us to make a objective inquiry whether it is an affirmative opinion or a negative one.
