To more fully participate in the worldwide trend towards globalization, I propose that a new tea ceremony course (which will be referred to here as "Dado training") be added to the present curriculum. I also propose the activation of club activities in relation to Dado. After having annually conducted Dado programmes as an instructor in my school, it pains me to say that Dado training is done only peripherally in an extra course called "Saenghwalgwan" training. I feel that it should be a regular subject in order that students can learn to behave themselves naturally throughout their school life. With this in mind, in this study I have mentioned the principles and general knowledge of tea ceremony, the traditional Korean spirit that Dado embodies, and the urgent need for Dado education in spite of the position Dado presently occupies. In addition, I made some investigations through questionnaires, to show how tea training affects pupils in terms of etiquette education. To reiterate, Dado training should be taught as a formal subject in school as soon as possible. Some suggestions to improve Dado education are as follows: 1. Specific goals should be aimed at through the tea ceremony training. 2. A special department for tea education should be established, and better qualified instructors should be produced. 3. More opportunities should be given to parents and teachers to gain a better understanding of Korean Dado culture. 4. A Dado training center should be set up. 5. Through Dado training, programs to teach students appropriate manners should be added and activated. 6. A model school with adequate tea training programs should be established and tea education should be systematized in school. 7. A variety of materials and books for Dado should be developed and issued periodically. 8. Dado should take root as an independent subject. 9. Special plans should be made to guide the Dado clubs as extracurricular activities. 10. The Dado and ceremony education should be promoted at the government level. 11. Tea education in school should be focused on the improvement of students' creativities by learning Korean Dado culture. 12. Tea education in school should be guided and supported both administratively and financially by both government and civic Dado organizations. In conclusion, the above mentioned steps should be taken in order for Korean students to gain better awareness and pride in their nation's cultural assets. It is my great hope that through this, Korea can regain its old prestige as the most courteous nation in the Far East.
